Serum Testosterone Concentrations in Women During the Superovulated Cycle

Abstract

|
Between April and July 1987, the hormonal dynamics of peripheral plasma testosterone levels during superovulated cycle with clomiphene citrate and HMG were evaluated in 11 normally menstruating women.
Utilizing specific radioimmunoassay, serum testosterone and luteinizing hormone(LH) were measured daily in the same alliquots of sera in 11 superovulatory menstrual cycles.
Serum testosterone concentrations averaged 0.66±0.37 ng/ml and mean serum testosterone concentration in 11 women were somewhat higher around the midcycle without statistical significance.
These findings suggested that the mean serum testosterone concentrations in norrmal women under superovulation are subjected to small but showed random variation during the course of the superovulated cycle with clomiphene citrate and HMG.
